A GUIDE ON HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR WAVES HAIR
You have no clue how lucky you are if you have natural waves hair. The texture, the volume, and the type; of everything is longed for by the rest of the hair types.
Just
like 4c curly hair needs a suitable course of action to maintain
its brilliance, waves hair must also be maintained according to its needs. You
can't treat your wavy hair like you do fine hair. The catch with the waves hair
is that many people don't realize throughout their lives that their hair is
wavy or curly. They keep assuming that their hair is fine and straight with
frizz and treat it as such until the waves hair starts to lose their real
texture and the damage creeps in.
Hence,
you must figure out what your waves hair needs. We have listed a few tips and tricks
to help you figure out your hair types and care for them correctly.
Hair Porosity:
Your
waves hair porosity plays a huge role in determining your hair health and
needs. For our buds new to this term, hair porosity refers to your hair's
ability to absorb & retain moisture. The reason behind hair porosity is
based on body wave hair cuticles. When our waves hair cuticles are tightly
closed together, the waves hair finds it difficult to absorb extra moisture. When
these cuticles are open, your waves hair can easily absorb all the moisture and
let it go.

to Embrace Your Natural Waves Hair
Hair
porosity falls on 3 different levels:
Low
Porosity:
The hair
with its cuticles tightly bound together is less porous and does not
absorb moisture easily. Although this type of hair has one benefit, it doesn't
let go of its natural moisture, which keeps waves hair hydrated. But it does
cause a lot of product build-up.
Medium-Porosity:
Your
waves hair has medium porosity if its cuticles are not too open or tightly
closed. This hair type is ideal since it doesn't have to deal with product build-up
or dryness. It may absorb an adequate amount of moisture & retain it
within, which keeps the waves hair healthy & hydrated.
High-Porosity:
Your
waves hair is likely to be highly porous if it easily absorbs moisture but
still feels dry and brittle. High porosity hair has its cuticles wide open,
allowing moisture to easily enter the hair shaft through the gaps. But since
the gaps aren't closed afterward, the moisture escapes as easily as it gets in,
leaving hair always dehydrated.
It is
commonly assumed that 4a curly hair is more porous than wavy/fine hair, but
that isn't always the case. You can have waves hair with high porosity as well.
Waves Hair porosity has less to do with hair texture & more with your
hair's health.
